What is Our Goal?
What is it: The Youth Health Advocacy Team (YHAT) is a youth-led volunteer group for individuals ages 14 to 24, with an emphasis on fostering a diverse community. The team focuses on promoting mental and behavioral health for both themselves and their peers in Pima County.
Who supports it: YHAT is supported and hosted by the Pima County Public Library (PCPL) and the Pima Behavioral Health Coalition (PBHC)
What is this year’s goal: The goal of YHAT is to raise awareness about the importance of youth health and to address the ongoing crises of isolation and substance abuse among young people.
What does it do: For 2024-2025, YHAT is focusing on combatting youth isolation and substance abuse. The team has creating a range of resources, including podcasts, posters, and media all designed to engage and support students in local schools.

Why did you join YHAT and how has it benefited you?
I joined YHAT for the benefit of helping others throughout the community, as serving the community is always my go-to option for help. It has benefited me by giving me a broader perspective of mental issues throughout Pima County, and advocacy to help it.
Share a little bit about yourself outside of academics. (e.g. extracurriculars, sports, hobbies, interests):
I play sports such as basketball, baseball, volleyball, and track, otherwise I love playing video games, hanging out with my friends, and playing chess.
