(Tucson, AZ) Martha Cooper Library will be closed November 20, 2022 through Fall 2024 for a major renovation.
In preparation for the closure, customers should begin moving holds to a new pickup location. It's easy to do! Learn more in this FAQ.
A few things to note during this closure:
- The book drop will be closed. Materials can be returned to any other library.
- Outdoor WiFi will not be available.
- Food distribution services will be paused.
This major renovation will include:
Expanded children's space
The children's area will be much larger and designed to minimize sound traveling. It will also feature an enclosed outdoor area for play and programming.
Upgraded space for teens
This area will include comfortable seating, more computers, and an expanded collection.
More books
The adult collection will be expanded. Improved seating areas will offer customers a comfortable place to find and enjoy their materials.
A bigger library
This library will nearly double in size to 13,554 square feet!
Programming area
The large meeting room will connect to an outdoor, shaded meeting area. It will feature a glass sliding wall allowing for large-scale indoor and outdoor programming and events.
Additional space for studying
Additional study rooms will be added, providing increased access for customers looking to use them.
Outdoor improvements
The solar panels currently on-site will be raised and placed above a shade structure with benches and amenities for those who want to enjoy the library grounds from a shady spot. In addition, the grassy space in front of the library will be expanded.
During the closure, customers are encouraged to enjoy nearby libraries or visit the E-Library for streaming movies and TV, music, e-books and audio books, and much more!
