A day of family-friendly fun at Flowing Wells Library’s Grand Re-Opening!

(TUCSON, Ariz.) – The words renovation and expansion do not capture the wondrous changes recently made at the Flowing Wells Library. After a year-long closure, the doors have re-opened ushering customers into a space that has nearly tripled in size and features separate spaces for teens and children, more natural lighting, new furniture, an updated collection, and an outdoor patio with Wifi access.

It’s time for a Grand Re-Opening! On Saturday, February 23, 12:30–4 pm, the Library will host a fun-filled day of activities to celebrate. Come check out your new Library and enjoy a variety of all-ages activities from music and crafts to gaming and face painting:

12:30–2 pm: Harp and ukulele performances

2–2:20 pm: Special guest speakers

  • Supervisor Sharon Bronson, Pima County Board of Supervisors, District 3
  • Ellie Towne Neal, Vice President, Flowing Wells Neighborhood Association
  • Kevin and Marie Daily, authors, Images of America: Flowing Wells
  • Karyn Prechtel-Altman, Deputy Director, Pima County Public Library

2–2:30 pm: Family Storytime

2:30–3 pm

  • Refreshments on the new outdoor patio
  • Bob Effertz presents “Around the World,” featuring a Japanese craft, a lively Philippines dance, and demonstration of the Peruvian musical instrument zampona panpipe
  • Face painting

3–4 pm: Kevin and Marie Daily present a history of Flowing Wells. Book sale (Images of America: Flowing Wells)  and signing to follow.

2:30–4 pm

  • Native Plants Nursery seed planting activity
  • Origami crafts
  • Button making
  • X-box video gaming

Flowing Wells Library manager Ingrid Trebisky says, “We’re excited to show off our beautiful new space. It’ll be a perfect day to celebrate with our longtime customers, and we hope to see many new faces throughout the day!”
