The Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa at the Westin La Paloma Resort had free water access from 2000 to May, 2007.
When the resort was built in 2000, a water meter was inadvertently left uninstalled on the water line going to the spa. For years the spa tapped directly into a Tucson Water main, so it did not receive any bills for water usage. Tucson Water discovered the improper connection when Westin La Paloma asked for help locating all of its back-flow assemblies. After this problem was found, the City of Tucson Water Department did bill the resort for the water usage.
