A driver heading east on Speedway Boulevard, Broadway Boulevard, 22nd Street or Golf Links Road will notice that the street veers to the south about 50 feet or more just before reaching the intersection with Wilmot Road. (A westbound driver will notice this "jog" in the road after crossing the intersection at Wilmot Road.)
The reason why these streets "jog" in these locations is because of how cities are planned. When governments lay out the streets for a six-mile township, they start from the southwest corner and plan the streets heading north and west. If the roads in two townships don't line up where they meet, the streets have to curve to make up for the difference.
