Green Shamrock in Downtown Tucson

For many years a green shamrock has been painted into the intersection of South Stone Avenue and West Pennington Street. The shamrock is given a fresh coat of green paint every year for St. Patrick’s Day.

The shamrock was originally painted in 1970, by members of the McArdle family so that their mother would see it as she drove to work at the Mountain Bell Telephone Co.
