At the Library, we are busy, and that is reflected in our event calendar, opens a new window. With 27 locations, there’s a lot going on all the time. Whether you're looking for something to do this week or next month, it's easier to find things if you understand how to use all the calendar's features.
Finding the calendar
On any page of the Library's website, you can find Events in the bar at the top of the page. It has a small calendar icon next to it.
Searching for events using the search bar
Much like the catalog, the events calendar was designed to be searchable. That means you can use the search bar that is available on every page to search only the events.
Use filters to narrow your search results or browse
You can also use the built-in tools to filter and refine your search; therefore it's great to familiarize yourself with the best part of the events calendar: the sidebar.
Even without using the search bar, there are several ways to get closer to what you’re looking for. Looking for something happening tomorrow? Drop in the date, and that’s all you’ll get. Looking for what’s coming up at Martha Cooper Library over the next week? Drop in those dates, and then check Martha Cooper in the list of libraries. Looking for fun crafting activities for you and the kids? You can check both event type and audience further down the sidebar. Just frantic for something to do that is happening soon and isn’t far away? You can also check by zip code (or use your current location).
If you’re using the website on mobile, it’s just as easy to refine your search. In fact, there is a button at the top of the Events page that just says Filter. There, you’ll see all the same options for narrowing your search to find what you’re looking for.
And remember: Every library name on the events calendar takes you back to that library’s location page, which will give you hours, a map, and contact information if you want to call the library directly. It’s a great way to verify there is space in an event that doesn’t have an online registration feature (as some of our events do).
