Kirk-Bear Canyon Library is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its gorgeous and whimsical mural, "Southwestern Storytime." The mural was painted by local artist, craftsman, and performer, Joe Pagac.
Pagac has created murals at many locations around Tucson, including RoadHouse Cinemas, Charro Vida, Hotel McCoy, and Epic Rides. He is currently working on his largest mural to date at Zion City Flowing Wells. The Kirk-Bear Canyon Library mural was funded by Friends of the Kirk-Bear Canyon Library through a generous donation from Hughes Federal Credit Union.
The library will celebrate by giving out coloring sheets featuring artwork from the mural and commemorative bookmarks starting April 4th.
The mural is a favored town selfie spot, featuring a host of lively and photoworthy characters, including a unicorn, a bear, a lizard, quails (as Joe would probably say, yes, the quail is supposed to look like that), and more. We encourage the community to stop by to view this special artwork, pick up some coloring sheets and a bookmark, and celebrate with us!
