Kirk-Bear Canyon Library invites you to an exhibit by local artist and librarian Megan Hellwig, on display until September 28, 2024.
Artist Statement:
Megan Hellwig is a children’s librarian, illustrator, and children’s book writer who works in traditional and digital mediums. You can most often find her with her trusty iPad and ProCreate as she illustrates a story.
She draws inspiration from her experiences living abroad and from folk tales from around the world.
The goal of her illustrations is to draw readers into the world of the book and create an emotional connection with the story.
The best feeling in the world is to see a reader smile or to be brought to tears by your story.
Some of her illustration role models are Molly Idle, Benson Shum, Bob Shea, Christopher Denise, Robin James, and Steven Kellogg.
