Art Exhibit ~ Julia Jai Miller

Kirk-Bear Canyon Library invites you to an exhibit by local artist Julia Jai Miller, on display until August 31, 2024.

Artist Statement:

Julia Jai Miller is a Tucson-born artist working in mixed media, paper, and artist books. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Arizona, where she discovered her love of book arts. She earned her Bachelor of Art in History from the University of Colorado. As a bibliophile, she found books were a wonderful way to share her photography, as well as express emotions with or without words. She quickly ventured into the realm of sculptural books.
Much of her work often deals with themes of motherhood, grief, family, and social issues. Her goal is to create art that not only engages the eyes but also touches the heart and leaves a lasting impact.
For several years, Julia has taught bookbinding workshops through the Pima County Public Libraries, and The Drawing Studio, as well as private workshops. She also taught photography and art history at the high school level in Flagstaff and Shenzhen, China. Teaching art of any kind is a special way to connect with the community.
Her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally and are held in several public and private collections including the Special Collections at the University of Arizona Libraries and the
University of Washington Special Collections.
