Art Exhibit ~ Jeanine Colini

Kirk-Bear Canyon Library invites you to an exhibit by local artist Jeanine Colini, on display until July 31, 2024.

Artist statement:

I'm a graphic artist and designer with a long-time interest in alphabet letters. I've created two illustrated alphabets with more in the works. "A to Zoo" is my animal alphabet, created in 1981 while still in art school. The critters have been around the world and have even appeared on the TV show Dynasty and in the film Three Men And A Baby. Shortly after moving to Tucson in 2018 I completed "A to Z Cactus." These alphabets are inspired by my love of nature, animals, and lettering as an art form. Each alphabet consists of 26 individual letter designs. With an extensive background in publication and book design I've spent over 30 years enhancing the written word--working with so many words made up of so many letters. In fact, I've been doodling letters since I could hold a pencil!

I have a lifetime of drawing experience and learned pastels when I was teaching drawing classes to children. My primary medium is watercolor. I also love to draw and paint the local flora and fauna that surround us here in the Sonoran Desert. I'm always eager to explore new subject matter. My paintings are known for their vibrant colors and expressive style. I create whimsical art to brighten people's day. I earned my BFA at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in 1981 and have worked as a designer and artist ever since.
