Art Exhibit ~ Jay Kyle Petersen: “Energies of Hope and Healing”

Flowing Wells Library invites you to an exhibit by local artist Jay Kyle Petersen. "Energies of Hope and Healing" will be on display from April 1 - May 17, 2025.


Artist Statement:

Channeling energies of hope and healing with color through prayer and meditation JAY’s paintings lift us up, inspire, and take us into the upper world. Painting since 1977 after breaking free from drug and alcohol addiction after a profound spiritual experience, and together with the help of his paternal Grandmother Alice Petersen and a program of recovery, JAY continues to paint using the same method since 1977. Every painting is offered up as a prayer.
 
At age 72, JAY has compiled an impressive resume – creative footprint - including paintings in permanent collections in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Berlin, Germany; Minnesota Historical Society; Universities at Knudson School of Law Library South Dakota and Southwest Minnesota State University McFarland Library and more. His art process and recovery journey are enshrined in film in a short documentary titled JAY which won Best of Arizona International Film Festival 2018 and premiered in St. Louis International Film Festival, 2017 an academy award qualifying festival. Nick Duarte, Crown Chimp Productions, Tucson, Arizona directed and produced the film.
 
He continues to paint personal Guardian Angel and Spirit paintings of Pets and People by request for both living and those who have passed on as well as places on Earth.
