Art Exhibit ~ Jan Fell

Oro Valley Library invites you to view the work of local artist Jan Fell, on display from June 1 - July 15, 2024.

Artist statement:

Jan Fell has been fascinated with animals since childhood. She has had many pets, including a skunk, a ferret, and a snapping turtle, and has raised many other animals, with turkeys, two parrots and a pig among them. She enjoys the opportunity to paint those she cannot have!

Think about all the creatures of land, air, and water. The animal world is vast and diverse, with infinite shapes, colors, and textures. There can never be a shortage of intriguing subjects for Jan’s art.

She is a self-taught “wildlife artist”. She began in pen and ink, using traditional pen points and evolving into colored inks. Years later she began painting with acrylics for the love of color and occasionally may add colored pencil for a mixed media effect. Jan mainly works in detail and strives for realism.

Galleries in Tucson, Scottsdale and also in New Mexico have shown and sold her pieces. She lived in New Mexico for 13 years and eventually owned and operated a gallery of a dozen other artists in Silver City.
Through her art, Jan seeks to spark a certain interest in our living creatures, with appreciation and respect, to value their worth. We are all connected.
