Art Exhibit ~ George Subiti

Oro Valley Library invites you to an exhibit by local artist George Subiti, on display from April 15 - May 31, 2025.


Artist Statement:

George enjoys a peaceful retired life in Tucson, AZ. After twenty-seven years in the computer industry he began a second career as a classroom educator. He taught secondary students for twelve years. As an educator he taught art, physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics and language arts. He also developed a district-wide gifted student education curriculum. He retired as an educator in 2012.
 
George finds an outlet for personal expression through his artwork and poetry. He developed a deep interest in the visual arts during his university years where his primary medium was welded sculpture, currently his preferred medium is acrylic on canvas. George’s art uses creative brushwork and vibrant colors. His abstract realism often reflects commentary on current geopolitical themes. George Subiti’s major influencers are the French impressionists and the Cubist artists. His artwork
is currently on gallery display in Tucson, Arizona and in private collections in Arizona, USA and France.
 
George is also a senior docent at the University of Arizona Poetry Center. Recently, his poetry has been published in the Arizona Daily Star and he has been a frequent contributor to the local radio program segment “A Poet’s Moment”.
His new collection of poetry entitled Poems for Azrael has been submitted for publication.
 

George firmly believes that the power of both art and poetry is an essentially important contribution to the community.
