Art Exhibit ~ Florence Yip

Eckstrom-Columbus Library invites you to an exhibit by local artist Florence Yip, on display until August 31, 2024.

Artist statement:

Florence is Chinese by blood, American by law, and Thai in spirit. To explain this, both of her parents are Chinese, she was born in Denver, Colorado and she was raised in Bangkok, Thailand. She attended Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is currently in her first year of residency at Tucson Medical Center. She will become a radiologist once she graduates from residency, which acts as a bridge between her love of medicine and attention to detail gathered from her passion for art. Her artworks are inspired by anatomy and the tranquility of nature. Thus, many of her recent pieces involve many body systems intertwined with plants to create a balanced piece. Her works are almost always multimedia based, mainly including acrylic paint, watercolour, and pen. This is because Florence is in love with texture and tries to create that in her pieces. Art has taught her to find balance in life. She hopes to merge the gap between science and art through her works.
