Artist Statement:

Hello! I'm Ash (or Umber, depending on where you know me from).

I'm a trans-masc queer artist that specializes in fantasy horror, portraiture, and silly tongue-in-cheek work with close to zero grey area in between. I deeply enjoy storytelling, and the exploration of different worlds which...can be (I think) clearly seen in my favorite hobbies - fantasy role-playing games (both at a table, and on a screen), and writing. Lately, I just finished up playing Baldur's Gate 3, and have been working towards continuing my Dungeons and Dragons campaign. These hobbies definitely lend themselves to my visual work in a huge way. I try not to get bogged down with limiting myself to a medium or a style - if I can tell a story, I'll use whatever feels right in the moment to tell it.

Currently I'm buckling down to complete my new years resolution to self-publish a few zines - one of which will be centered around fantasy foods. Wish me luck!

You can find my work featured at &Gallery pretty regularly on 4th Ave here in Tucson. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for low-brow, nerd or counter culture art go pay them a visit!
