We’ve done some rearranging on the 3rd Floor at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, and it looks fantastic! Our Reference Collection has shifted a bit, making room for additions to our Cele Peterson Arizona Collection, opens a new window.
Cele Peterson Arizona Collection, opens a new window features print and non-print reference materials of general and popular interest on the history, culture, politics, economy, peoples, languages, geography, and natural history of Arizona with an emphasis on southern Arizona and Pima County. Fictional and other literary works that reflect the culture, history, or environment of Arizona are also included. Although materials in the Arizona Collection do not check out, they are available for reference and research. Photocopiers are available to copy information, and in some instances, circulating copies may be reserved for checkout.
TheThe Reference Collection has materials of general informational content, including encyclopedias, dictionaries and atlases. You will also find medical information, car repair manuals, and art and music history.
Looking for historical or genealogical information about Tucson? Our ‘specialized’ Reference materials include current and historical Tucson Telephone Directories, along with the Cole and Polk City Directories (also called reverse or criss-cross directories). Looking for obituaries or old newspaper articles? Find them using microfilm. We have the Arizona Daily Star and the Tucson Citizen dating to the late 1800’s!
